Huawei will now buy OLED screens from Samsung for upcoming P30 Pro

It seems like Samsung and Huawei are looking forward to collaborating in unique ways as the Chinese telecom giant has made a contract with South Korea based Samsung Display to manufacture the OLED screen for the upcoming Huawei P30 and P30 Pro. Samsung-made super AMOLED screens will replace BOE and LG, who manufactured the OLED screens for Huawei’s previous phones like the Mate 20 Pro.

According to a recent post by Huawei Hub on Chinese social network Weibo, the Chinese tech giant revealed that it can focus its efforts on meeting with one manufacturer, in order to minimize the risk of leaks and to ensure that everything that comes out of the production line meets all quality standards. In short, Huawei is apparently looking forward to assign a sole manufacturer to simplify the entire process and who else could be more deserving than Samsung.

Meanwhile, the reason behind this sudden decision of replacing OLED screen supplier is still unclear, as the company is said to launch these flagship devices in a dedicated event in Paris on March 26. However, some critics believe that Samsung’s established production line, as well as the flawless quality of its AMOLED screens, were responsible for it winning the sole contract as it can meet Huawei’s requirements without having to bring in another manufacturer.

It must also be noted that last year in December, Apple was rumored to use a new Samsung-made AMOLED for the 2019 iPhone lineup. In this regard, Apple has tasked Samsung with the contract because it’s one of the few suppliers who have the technology required to integrate the touch aspect into the screen, which Apple essentially requires to make a thinner device.
