Oppo showcased their under-display selfie camera technology at MWC Shanghai, and we all know that both Xiaomi and Vivo also have prototypes of under-display camera phones as well. It appears now that another Chinese smartphone manufacturer is planning to join this league. The Chinese tech giant Huawei has recently filed patents for the user interface and how they will use the area over the selfie camera.
According to the patent filed by Huawei, it appears that the company has plenty of solutions for the area. The patent images reveal that the under-display camera is located on the top left side of the display. Moreover, the portion of the screen where the camera is located also displays relevant information according to the user activity.
We are not sure at the moment if the Chinese manufacturer has a working prototype with this feature or if the company is only trying to protect their idea of the under-display selfie camera phone from getting snatched by other companies, which is what usually happens with patents.
Huawei recently, also jumped on the pop-up selfie camera phone league when the company launched its first ever mid-range pop-up selfie camera phone Huawei Y9 Prime. The pop-up camera phone by Huawei is by far the cheapest phone in the market and also offers many exciting features that completely justifies the price range.
If Huawei is working on an under-display phone, then there may be a chance that the company will again offer a budget-friendly device featuring this selfie camera in it. But these are just assumptions and we have to wait till the company actually launches this type of smartphone. Only time will reveal the future.
