How to root your Samsung Galaxy A3

We have been doing quite a few rooting guides for our audience. People love the way Android user interface could be manipulated to one’s needs and that’s why we took to doing this feature quite often. We have already explained in detail what Android rooting really is. If you don’t know about it, we would recommend you to just head over to our this writing and get to know about it.

The different rooting guides that we have done can be accessed from here. Today we would be talking about how can you root your Samsung Galaxy A3. We will be rooting the 2016 version of this smartphone running Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, using the SuperSU package by Chainfire on top of a TWRP custom recovery. So before proceeding make sure that you have a custom recovery like ClockworkMod or TWRP Recovery installed on your Samsung Galaxy A3 (2016). Process:

1. Back-Up

Although the chances are less that you would loose your data or damage the device. On a precautionary note, it is recommended that you do a back-up of the data stored on your smartphone.
You can either

  • Transfer data to your PC.
  • Backups can also be done through using Samsung Kies.

2. Download USB driverS for PC

Download and install USB drivers for your smartphone on your PC. This will help you to successfully connect your smartphone with your PC.

3. Enable USB debugging mode on your A3

In order to enable the USB debugging mode, follow these steps.

  • Go to Settings
  • Scroll down and find ‘Developer Options’. Tap there
  • Enable USB debugging and OEM Unlocking option

The Developer Options will come invisible by default on your Android version. If you can’t see the Developer Options, you can make it visible through these steps.

  • Go to Settings
  • Scroll down till you see “About Device”. Tap there
  • Tap on Build Number for 5-7 times to make the Developer Options visible
  • Now follow the aforementioned steps to enable USB debugging and OEM Unlocking

4. Download the root package for your smartphone

You will be required to download the root package for your smartphone. Download SuperSU Root file for flashing.

Download the file to your PC and then without unzipping the package, move the file to the SD Card root area. Make sure that it is not in any subdirectory. Disconnect the smartphone from PC.

5. Open smartphone in Recovery mode

Boot your smartphone into the Recovery mode through these steps.

  • Switch off your smartphone.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up and Power Button simultaneously.

6. Process on your mobile

Once your smartphone loads in the Recovery Mode do the following steps to flash the zip file you had in the SD card of your smartphone.

  • Scroll down using volume buttons to “flash zip from SD card”.
  • Press the Power button to select it.
  • Press the Power button again to select “choose zip from SD card”.
  • Now using volume keys, navigate to the BETA-SuperSU-v2.52.zip file that you have stored in earlier steps.
  • Select it using the Power button.
  • Confirm the installation on the next screen.

After confirming the installation, the flashing would start. After it completes, navigate back to the main recovery menu. To reboot automatically into the rooted version, select the “reboot system now“ option. Confirm if your device has correctly been rooted or not, by checking if SuperSU application is present in your application drawer or not. If you find it, you have gained the super user powers.
