Honda Unveils its First All-Electric SUV: The Prologue

Honda launched its all-new all-electric crossover SUV, Prologue, last week. The unveiling generated rumors that the launch may happen sooner than expected. However, a recent Honda update indicated that the SUV will launch in 2024.

General Motors (GM) and Honda have joined together to form the Prologue. The collaboration will allow Honda to obtain Ultium batteries and a GM drivetrain for its EV.

The SUV will be available with both two-wheel drive (2WD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) powertrains. Honda’s newest Advance Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and other high-tech technologies will also be available.

According to reports, the Prologue’s proportions place it between the Honda CR-V and the Pilot, making it a midsize SUV. Furthermore, while Honda has not yet released official specs, reviewers anticipate that it will have the same performance figures as the Chevy Blazer EV.

According to several claims, the Chevy Blazer EV has 300 to 550 horsepower (hp), 650 Newton meters (Nm) of torque, and a range of 400 to 515 kilometers.

Prologue, like its other contemporary siblings, has a minimal yet attractive appearance. Its understated design has a long wheelbase, minimal overhangs, and huge wheels.

Honda already has two EVs in its lineup: the Honda e: NS1 SUV (available only in China) and the Honda e hatchback. The inclusion of a midsize crossover SUV will almost certainly add value to Honda’s expanding EV portfolio. However, considering the possible features and performance, the Honda Prologue might command a price tag commensurate with its size.
