The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) recently launched a new automated Lost & Stolen Device System (LSDS) for blocking citizen’s lost, stolen, and snatched mobile phones with ease and convenience.
The LSDS is an automated system that is integrated with PTA’s Device Identification, Registration, and Blocking System (DIRBS) and enables the complainants to file a request with the PTA for blocking the IMEI of such handset to prevent it from potential misuse.
Previously, mobile phones could be blocked or unblocked by calling PTA’s toll-free number or emailing PTA or through CPLC Karachi helplines. However, these mediums are no longer functional after the launch of the new system.
If your mobile phone has been stolen, snatched or you can no longer locate it, you can have it easily blocked by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA)’s Lost & Stolen Device System (LSDS).
Here is what you need to do:
1- Visit PTA’s Complaint Management System (CMS)
2- Enter the following details
3- Check the box for “Acknowledging” the terms and conditions given at the end
4- Click on “Register Complaint”
5- You will receive a complaint reference number upon successful registration of the blocking request and the mobile phone will be blocked within 24 hours of reporting after necessary verification.
Note: You can follow the same process to unblock the mobile phone.
The status of blocking can be checked after 16 working hours of reporting.
You can check the status in the following ways
Once blocked, the following status shall be displayed against the stolen IMEI search
“Your mobile device (IMEI #) is blocked (reported stolen/lost/misused to PTA)”
Note: PTA’s mandate is only limited to blocking phones. In order to trace/track stolen phones, local police me be approached.
It also needs to be noted that False reporting is a criminal offense punishable as per law.
