HEC and Huawei started a joint program in Pakistan named “Huawei Seeds for the Future Programme 2022”, which aims to give advanced technological expertise to young Pakistani undergraduate students who can excel in their respective fields of tech so that Pakistan as a nation can grow in the tech area.
This partnership between HEC and Huawei has been going on for seven years now in different shapes and has trained over 130 students over the years and taught them advanced IT skills. Assistant Director Learning Opportunities Abroad Higher Education Commission Pakistan claims that 55 students were sent to China by Huawei for a two weeks training over the years to learn culture and ICT skills, the students are selected by HEC from various educational institutes.
Due to covid-19, the training was held via online classes last year and HEC and Huawei have decided to take the online training this year as well. The HEC Officials have announced the last date for application for the program and it is 18th September 2022. HEC is supposed to select 30-40 students on behalf of Huawei that HEC finds eligible for the program.
The criteria for the applicants to be selected for the training is many folds, first and foremost candidate must be a permanent resident of Pakistan or Azad & Jammu Kashmir, candidates with dual nationalities would not be selected.
The Candidate must be an undergrad student with majors among one of the following:
Information and Communication Technology
The undergrad students of these fields must be in their last year and should have at least a 3.5 GPA out of 4 if they are to get selected for the program, the students of only 6th, 7th, and 8th semesters can apply. The students who have completed their four years of undergraduate ICT-related degrees with a minimum CGPA of 3.5 out of 4 since summer 2021 are also eligible.
The students who are less than 24 years old on the closing date of application, those who demonstrate excellent academic acumen, speak English fluently, and have a strong interest in Information Communication & Technology and related fields will also be considered for online training.
The training will start on the 26th of September this year and would complete in 2 weeks. The students must be available on those dates otherwise they won’t be grunted the certificate of the training. The candidate must have all equipment of their own and must have a strong internet connection. Final selection will be based on academic excellence & Federal Govt. quota policy. In case of the final award, selected candidates will not be able to withdraw.

HEC can conduct individual interviews in case of numerous applications and the most confident students with the best spoken English would be selected. If a candidate applies with an incomplete form on the portal, their application will not be accepted. The candidates who already have attended the training in the previous years are not eligible for applying in this one.
