Haier is a well-renowned name in the field of home appliances and now they are entering the race of mobile phones as well. This week Haier smartphones were officially launched in Lahore under the umbrella of a Pakistani group by the name of Ruba Sez. Over the last decade Ruba Sez has partnered with several potential Chinese tech companies. Their experience and specialist knowledge should prove this partnership with Haier to be a good one.
Haier Pakistan has recently produced a large number of laptops, mainly for the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme. With a production unit in the country Haier does have an edge. Over 15 smartphone models from Haier’s three new series, Esteem, Klassic and Pursuit, were unveiled at the launch. It was also announced that Haier Pakistan will start a production and assembly unit in the country.
The Esteem series will consist of high-end smartphones including Esteem i70 and Esteem L50 with a 5 inch screen, running on Android KitKat and powered by 1.4 GHz and 1.2 GHz processors respectively.
The Pursuit series again consists of 2 devices. The Pursuit G30 which features a 4.5 inch screen with a 1.3GHz dual-core processor and the Pursuit G20 which has a 4 inch screen with a 1.2GHz dual-core processor.
The Klassic series will probably be a go-to smartphone for the general public. It has over 6 models currently. Haier hasn’t said released the price figures but Mr. Afridi, CEO of Ruba Sez, believes that these smartphones will be top-notch and affordable for everyone.
Haier’s performance in a new working environment is yet to be judged, but an initiative like this does open a window for several other foriegn brands!
