In order to increase technical and vocational skills among the youth of Pakistan, the Prime Minister Youth Programme has planned to launch “Startup Pakistan Programme” for the youth. The news was first reported on the official website of the state-owned news agency APP (Associated Press of Pakistan).

The government will establish Technical & Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutes for the youngsters to develop innovation-driven entrepreneurs in the country. According to an official from the government, the startup programme will enhance technical skills in the students on a broader scope. The youngsters who seek education in science, technology, and various related fields will be provided with relevant training at TVET institutes. According to the PMYP’s spokesperson;

“The programme will help the youngsters earn a better livelihood and receive bigger career opportunities on viable platforms, which were inaccessible to them earlier due to lack of basic skills and technical education. The students of universities will be given technical and vocational training in seven emerging technologies through incubation initiative, which will also include global forums.”

The official said that the programme will not only provide technical and vocational training to the students in both high-tech and demand-driven trades but will also ensure to increase the employment after the training ends.

He further mentioned, “The programme is meant to uplift the youth and maintain sustainable national economic growth, which is only possible if we manage our young labor on modern trends in line with the latest developments”.

He also said that the government has started this programme to bring institutional development and to achieve socio-economic empowerment of youth.
