KARACHI: The Sindh government of Pakistan has issued new security-featured license plates to more than 3 million four-wheeler owners in the province, as a practical measure to stay up with internationally enforced vehicle laws.
According to a government notice, the new registration plates are put in place to make sure that vehicles are uniform and safe. In April 2022, the institution began issuing retro-reflective number plates with the enhanced security feature exclusively for new automobiles. This information was cited by Excise and Taxation Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla.
The new license plates include several security measures, one of which is the ability to be seen even at night. The excise minister mentioned that the plates are made of aluminum and have a bar code.
According to Chawla, “Now, we have launched the second phase for the old vehicles.” He also added that the government did not pay for the new license plates.
Legal action, including possible car detention, may be in store for those who fail to comply by maintaining old number plates after the government-set deadline of April 3.
According to his warning, “The action will include impounding of the vehicle” in relation to the snap checks on roads. The province’s almost three million older cars, trucks, and SUVs will need to renew their registrations.
