ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s government plans to open 10,000 charging sites for electric vehicles (EVs) across the country by 2030. Their second EV policy will be released by the end of November.

The Engineering Development Board’s ambitious plan was unveiled at an expo featuring electric bike models by Rana Tanveer Hussain, the Federal Minister for Industries and Production.

Industries Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain made a speech stressing the government’s commitment to decreasing carbon emissions and dependence on fossil fuels. By implementing this idea, Pakistan can be turned into a regional center for electric mobility, he declared.

According to Tanveer Hussain, 31 companies are considering investing in Pakistan’s electric vehicle (EV) industry, and two of those companies have even received licenses to manufacture EVs in the country.

In addition, the Industries Minister praised the Punjab government for its efforts to promote electric two- and three-wheelers by providing financial aid to urge people to buy them.

Plus, he shared the news that Rs4 billion has been set aside by the government to buy 100 electric bikes and distribute them to students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement.
