Google has introduced a cutting-edge AI model, GenCast, which is set to transform weather forecasting by providing more accurate predictions up to 15 days in advance. This high-resolution (0.25°) ensemble model outperforms traditional systems like ECMWF’s ENS, offering superior accuracy for both daily weather and extreme events.
Unlike prior models, which produced a single prediction of future weather, GenCast employs 50 or more simulations to reflect numerous possibilities, providing a more complete view of probable outcomes.
