Google will stop scanning Gmail for ad targeting

It turns out that Google has decided to give more privacy to its users by stopping the scan of Gmail accounts for ad targeting. The company has been doing this practice after it launched free email service for its users but this all going to end now.

The privacy is the main concern of Gmail users and to facilitate them the company has taken this step.

For quite a few time the tech company has been under strict scrutiny from privacy activists for scanning Gmail accounts of users for ad targeting purpose, and due to this scrutiny, the company has now allowed users to personalize their account.

If users don’t want Google to scan their accounts they simply have to personalize their account settings, allowing Google to see only those ads which are one’s browsing habit or the queries one has searched.

Google Cloud Senior Vice President Diane Greene said, “Consumer Gmail content will not be used or scanned for any ads personalization after this change”.

The company has also updated its Gmail app for Android users allowing them to send and receive money with ease. Moreover, Google has also updated its Gmail storage capacity and now users can receive files of up to 50MB.
