Google will add an ad-blocker directly in Google Chrome

It is an established fact that advertisements are a major source which drive a tech company’s revenue like that of Google. Reports, however, had it that Google is reportedly planning to add an ad-blocker directly on Google Chrome.

The Wall Street Journal has reported that Google is looking over the option to add an ad-blocker to its web browser, Google Chrome. The development is still in its formative phases and can be pulled back by Google. If given a go-ahead, the project will be launched as soon as within a few weeks. After the announcement, Google will turn the feature on the future Google Chrome updates by default.

Google and other major tech giants earn a major share of revenue from electronic advertisements. Different businesses target their relevant audiences through marketing advertisements put on the websites which tech companies run. Tech companies, hence, strongly discourage the usage of third-party ad-blockers because these are what essentially fund the company for its day-to-day tasks.

Although the reason to the said move isn’t much clear as of now because there are no statements from the company. It is, however, expected that the ad-blockers would be used as a filter that would block unwanted advertisements for users in order to lessen bad experiences at the user’s end. As of now, the users usually end up installing a third-party ad-blockers following an uncomfortable experience for example as caused by auto-play of video advertisements. Google might be looking to tackle this problem.

Google Chrome is one of the most widely web browsers used by the masses from across the globe. It was, in fact, the most used web browser in 2016. The web browser is developed and run by Google under an open-source project Chromium.
