Google has introduced a revamped Privacy dashboard as part of the Android 16 developer preview, providing a detailed 7-day permissions activity view alongside the existing 24-hour option. Surprisingly, Pixel users receive this feature early via the November 2024 Google Play system update. First spotted by 9to5Google on a Pixel 6a running Android 15 QPR1, the update can be accessed under Settings > Security & privacy > System & updates.
The three-dot menu located at the top of the Privacy dashboard should enable users to toggle between the 24-hour and 7-day views when they are accessible. The pie chart view remains unchanged, and a more comprehensive timeline of the permissions can be accessed by tapping on either the Location, Camera, or Microphone.
Additionally, it is feasible to alternate between the 24-hour and seven-day perspectives on this timeline. This is a critical addition to the Android Privacy dashboard, enabling users to evaluate the applications or services that have accessed specific device permissions over a longer period. The Manage Permission floating capsule is at the bottom of the timeline view. If you observe an application that should not have access to your device’s location, camera, or microphone, select it.
Google has significantly sped up the evolution of Android versions; this is seen by the recent publication of the first Android 16 developer preview, which came only after the announcement of Android 15 as stable. On the other hand, the first Android 15 developer preview came out in middle of February this year.
