Google Translate adds support for Sindhi and Pashto

Google’s language-translation software “Google Translate” just got a huge update, adding support for 13 new languages including Sindhi and Pashto.

Google Translate now supports a total of 103 languages or a staggering 99% of the world’s online population. The company achieved this milestone today by adding support for 13 new languages including Amharic, Corsican, Frisian, Kyrgyz, Hawaiian, Kurdish (Kurmanji), Luxembourgish, Samoan, Scots Gaelic, Shona, Sindhi, Pashto and Xhosa

“Saying “hello” in Pashto, Sindhi and Samoan just got a little easier with the addition of these and 10 other languages to Google Translate today.” announced Google in a blog post. “This brings the total number of languages Google Translate supports to just over 100, making it simpler for people, no matter what language they speak, to communicate with one another.”

Sindhi and Pashto are of particular importance to the Pakistani nation, with Sindhi being the official language of Sindh, the second most populated province in Pakistan; and Pashto being the language of the Pathans, the second largest ethnic group in the country. Google estimates that Sindhi and Pashto are spoken by 25 million and 43 million people respectively.

Google Translate is one of the easiest and most widely used translation softwares around the world. There are also Android and iOS apps to make this task even easier. With today’s update, Google Translate will let you translate in a total of 4 commonly-spoken languages in Pakistan; Urdu, Punjabi, Sindhi and Pashto.
