Google has always been all in for promoting healthy economic activity and new business ideas. Just recently, the tech giant went on to start a startup accelerator for promoting circular economy in Pakistan.
With all of Asia-Pacific and particularly Pakistan suffering through dangerous climate change effects, it’s important for people to innovate and bring out great economic solutions. This is exactly what Google Startup will help boost.
The program will select organizations that make use of technology to solve circularity challenges. These challenges include reusing, refilling, recycling, composting, fashion, food, safe and circular materials, and the overall protection of the environment.
Asia-Pacific is an important part of the world since it houses over 60% of the world’s population. This amounts to somewhere around 4.3 billion people, which obviously is a population that needs management. Incorrect management and population increases in the last 50 years have drastically increased the pollution in these regions.
According to a study, only ten rivers contribute to 90% of the plastic in our oceans. What’s surprising is the fact that 8 of those 10 rivers are in the APAC region. Now, these are real problems that can only be tackled by innovations and a correct system.
Google with this program will help not just Pakistan but the whole APAC region to create a more sustainable economy. What sustainable here means is an economy that’s more equitable, sustainable and safer for each individual.
Each startup or organization that is accepted by Google will be given a mix of one-to-one and one-to-many learning sessions, technical assistance and mentoring from Google engineers and external experts.
The dates to apply for the Google Startup accelerator are October 4, 2022 to November 14, 2022. The program is scheduled to start in February 2023.
