Samsung’s foldable phone is expected to be a gamer changer, in the same way, the iPhone changed the whole mobile industry more than a decade ago. Samsung’s foldable phone is expected to be a revolution and it is expected that we are going to see a lot of such devices. Google as the biggest developer of smartphone os is helping Samsung to make it happen.
Bloomberg reported about the foldable phone that it might be named as Galaxy F. It is project codenamed “Winner”, the phone is currently in the final stages of its development phase before getting into production. The phone will look very similar to the one showed in a concept video back in 2014. Interestingly, outside the device, users will be able to interact with a four-inch screen which will allow the consumer to interact and access the phone’s function without opening the foldable device. Not surprisingly, the phone is expected to run on Android and the Android functionality and appearance on this particular device will be different to what it usually is on other Android devices. This also indicates that Google might see this phone is a strategic opportunity against its archrival Apple. If this device is able to catch everyone’s attention then consumers can even expect a foldable phone from Google as well.
From the report,
“Samsung and Google have been working on developing a special version of the Android operating software for the phone, whose final user interface will depend largely on which of the two designs is chosen, one person said. Samsung may not be able to launch it commercially until the second quarter, another person said.”
A previous report suggested we could see the foldable phone at the Samsung Developer Conference in San Francisco in November, but this news that the final design hasn’t even been picked yet. It is likely the Samsung foldable phone will hit the market in the middle of 2019, although since the device has been in development for so long, it’s possible we could need to wait even longer than that.
