Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL now have 2-year warranty

Google announced today that their Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones now come with 2-year warranty. The announcement was made by Mario Queiroz, Vice President of Product Management at Google.

Google became one of the first smartphone manufacturers to provide 2-year warranty on their smartphone and it surely is a good news for its customers. Previously, LG proudly announced the 2-year warranty on its smartphones and some manufacturers in Europe are also providing extra warranty.

Google might have taken this step because of the recent screen burn-in issues faced by some users on Pixel 2 XL devices. Some users started reporting the issues on Twitter and Google started investigating the problem. However, Google later announced that it is not an issue at all. It is just the color saturation problem that is looking like an issue to some users. Google will release an update to add “a new mode for more saturated colors” where users will be able to control the colors on their phone and avoid saturation.

Here’s what Google said when the issue was first discovered.

The Pixel 2 XL screen has been designed with an advanced POLED technology, including QHD+ resolution, wide color gamut, and high contrast ratio for natural and beautiful colors and renderings. We put all of our products through extensive quality testing before launch and in the manufacturing of every unit. We are actively investigating this report.

By announcing the 2 year warranty, Google makes it clear that it is confident about its devices and there is no such screen burn issue.
