Google Photos has implemented an anticipated update that revolutionizes how users share their most treasured memories. Google Photos’ “Memories” feature, which is known for its intuitive photo administration on Android, allows users to revisit old photographs and videos in a captivating, story-like format. Despite its popularity, sharing these experiences beyond the app was challenging.
The most recent update to Memories has introduced an additional feature that enables it to be shared as video files with other applications. Previously, sharing was limited to Google Photos users, a restriction that frustrated many. This is an ongoing update that has been initiated in response to user feedback that indicates that Google is committed to enhancing the user experience.
Editing these video memories is straightforward. Before exporting, users can rename the Memory, modify or silence the background audio, and include or exclude specific images. This feature was initially observed in version 7.7.0 of the app and has been tested and confirmed to work seamlessly on the Pixel 9.
The process of sharing is straightforward, simply click on the “Share memory” option within a Memory and select it. Google Photos will subsequently convert the memory into a video file. Ultimately, the Android share interface is activated, enabling users to share the video using any compatible application. Additionally, the default export includes the original track’s background music, which contributes to an extra layer of nostalgia.
This new capability comes as part of a series of enhancements to Google Photos. Recent updates include improved icon visibility and ongoing integration of Gemini AI for enhanced interaction with user’s photo libraries. While the new video export feature is a welcome addition, many may wonder why such a practical tool took so long to arrive. Nevertheless, Google’s most recent initiative has significantly simplified and expanded the capabilities of memory sharing.
