Google now lets you enable Gmail’s offline mode

Last week during Google I/O developer conference, Google officially made offline mode available for Gmail users. Now, you no longer have to be online to read, reply to and compose messages.

Offline mode is only available for people using Chrome. So, if your current browser is not Google Chrome then you need to download it to get into the offline mode. Secondly, you’ll need to switch over to the new Gmail. If you try to enable offline mode from the “old” Gmail, you’ll end up with the limited old Chrome extension.

Once you’ve made the switch, click the Settings icon then the Settings menu option. Next, click Offline, then the box alongside Enable offline mail.

After that, you will notice a few details appear after you enable offline mail like storage, sync settings, and security. The storage section shows you how much storage space you are using for offline mail on your computer, which varies depends on your hard drive size. The Sync settings section allows you to decide whether to store emails from the last 7, 30 or 90 days along with the attachments. And the security section lets you decide if you want to keep offline data on your computer or remove offline data from your computer.

Once you’ve made your selections hit “Save Changes” and you’ll be good to go. Now, all of your emails and attachments will be downloaded and you will be able to access them offline.

The new Offline Mode for Gmail is great for anyone who has to deal with lots of emails on a daily basis and wants to deal with them whenever and where ever he/she chooses to do so.
