Google lets you keep a detailed track on Pakistani Olympic team’s progress

Rio 2016 has finally kicked off! Riddled by political issues and doping scandals, the Opening Ceremony of Rio 2016 was held today in style. This time, Google is also stepping up its efforts to make following your country’s Olympic performance as easy as performing a Google search.

In recent years, Google has made it incredibly easy to keep a track of your favorite sports teams. With Rio 2016, the search engine wants you to use it as your primary source of Olympic information! Just search for “Pakistan Rio 2016” (or any other country) and it will give you a complete overview of the competitions related to Pakistan’s athletes.

You can further click on “Athletes” to see a complete list of the whole team. It also lists the whole schedule of their respective competitions in a separate section along with another tab for the number of medals won. Moreover, you can just ask Google for Olympic ranking to see the global standings table.

If you use Google Now on your Android or iPhone, you can also make Google send you notifications regarding Olympics.

A total of seven exceptional athletes from Pakistan have made their way to the mega-event in Brazil! These include Lianna Swan in swimming, Minhal Sohail and Ghulam Mustafa Bashir in shooting, Shah Hussain Shah in judo, Nahima Parveen and Mehboob Ali in athletics and Haris Bandey in swimming.

Not to be left behind, Facebook and Twitter have also introduced new features, specifically to cater the Olympics. Facebook has rolled out a personalized section for all everything Olympics along with Snapchat-like filters and frames. On the other hand, Twitter has updated its “Moments” feature to make Twitter users’ timelines more about Olympics.
