If you are one of those parents who feel that their kids are wasting their time playing games on your mobile then Camp Google is for you! This isn’t one of those usual camps where you have to send your kids to, this is a virtual camp available right on your laptop screen. Google kicked off its inaugural free summer camp for kids on July 13 and it runs till August 7. The camp is open for children of all ages, although primarily focused towards 7 to 10 age group.
Google is no stranger to organizing such camps which promote a culture of learning and understanding. The main focus of the Camp is STEM education: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Google not only wants people to use technology but also to create it which is why this camp focuses on making young children familiar with the sciences and help spark an interest in them.
To achieve its mission, Google has teamed up with Khan Academy, National Geographic Kids, and NASA to put together sessions and activities for the campers. Each week, the camp has a different theme: the first week focused on the Ocean, then Space, Nature, and finally, Music. Campers can watch videos from experts in their field and participate in do-it-yourself activities.
Every week there is an interactive live stream event (12 A.M. local time), which focuses on the above-mentioned themes. All lessons include a quick video overview, instructions, and the list of supplies you’ll need. If you miss a lesson or two, don’t worry because Google plan on archiving all the videos so you can catch up.
So if you feel you’re hearing about this camp a little late, fear not! You can still join it today and help your kid explore the world of science. Find out more on the Camp Google website!
