Google is turning your phone into a magic wand by making it understand some common spells from the insanely popular Harry Potter series. This new feature is intended to promote the release of the new film set in Harry Potter’s universe — Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
If you own an android phone and have turned on voice commands, you can now use some magical spells to make your phone perform some common functions. Just tap on the mic icon or say ‘Ok Google’ (if your mobile device supports it) and utter the magical words.
Currently, Google only recognizes following three magical spells:
- Lumos: This will turn on the flashlight feature of your phone
- Nox: This will turn off the flashlight
- Silenco: This will, of course, silence the ringer and turn off all notifications on the device
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is coming to Cinemas on 17th of November. We hope that Google doesn’t remove this neat feature and actually introduces support for more spells from the Magical world of J.K.Rowling, as this seems like an awesome way to give commands to your phone.
