Google promises to give three months of training and grooming for these startups which they will pick up from these South Asian countries. This project has proved to be a game changer for startups in the past. Google links these startups with like-minded people and experts in their relevant fields which help them along their journey. Google usually picks startups that primarily focus on the most critical areas of modern times like l fintech, health tech, retail and e-commerce, and SME-focused B2B solutions.
In August this year, Google announced that it would add more Pakistani start-ups to its list of countries where they help small applications grow. The first version of GFSA(Google For Startup Accelerator *previously known as Google Launchpad Accelerator) was launched and since then it has done wonders for valuable ideas. Since then, a total of 90 startups have received help from GFSA and have generated funding of $5.4 billion, and created more than 1600 jobs for IT professionals in Pakistan and other South Asian countries.
Thye Yeow Bok, the Developer-Relations Program Manager at Google announced that; “Applications are now open for Google for Startups Accelerator: Southeast Asia. This year, we are also inviting startup entrepreneurs from Pakistan, particularly the ones who are resolving today’s socio-economic issues in key sectors like; healthcare, education, finance, or logistics.”
He was passionate about the potential and services that these South Asian startups can offer to humankind. He further added in the announcement that;
“Use of Artificial-Intelligence, Machine-Learning or Data-Analysis is being encouraged, to enable smooth functioning of industries. This will make the world more inclusive, even for the elderly and people with disabilities.”
The program is open for any South Asian startup to apply right now and the Google will select them on basis of their product and their significance in this world. Three months of free training and expert guidance with all strategic planning and product review will be provided and there are absolutely no charges to apply or after you get selected.
The Google for Startups Accelerator Southeast Asia will run from Jan 10 to March 18, 2023, in Singapore. The project description given officially by Google is;
“Founders selected into the accelerator will outline the top technical challenges facing their startup, and paired with relevant Google and industry experts to help solve those challenges. Participating startups will receive mentorship and specialized support from our global mentor network, as well as access to Google’s AI/ML, Cloud, Android, and Web experts. In addition to mentorship and technical project support, the accelerator also includes deep dives and workshops focused on product design, business strategy, customer acquisition, and leadership development for founders.”
So if you have a startup and you seem like you are stuck in the beginner phase and couldn’t seem to figure out a way to get that big break, you should definitely apply for the program.
