Google has developed an application that will detect a car accident and make instant contact on the emergency number. The XDA-Developers has spotted the Application named “Personal Safety” in Play Store on Pixel phones.
The application is initially going to launch for the users of Pixel users in the United States and it will be available for other countries later. The description of the application is that “an app for Pixel phones that helps [users] stay safe and connected to first responders and [their] emergency contacts.“
It will check a few things before making contact with the emergency contacts. First, it will figure out the user’s presence in the accident through the location, then the sudden stop of the vehicle, also it will look into the motion sensors and sounds from the microphone. It will then call 911 with the user’s location. If there is no response, then three options will pop up on the cell phone device, and they will be directed to the appropriate department: Medical, Fire or Police.
There were rumors about such application back in May when Google made changes in the Emergency Information app where the hinted at the possible launch of such an application in the new Pixel smartphone. It was never confirmed before the launch of Pixel 4. Google is updating the Emergency Information app on previous versions of Pixel as well, the new version 1.0.271601625, released as “Personal Safety.” in the description of this application on Play store, it says that car crash detection will be made available for Pixel devices in the United States.
Silicon Valley tech giant has made an entry in this along time ago with the Apple Watch. A Karachi based tech company Jaffer Business Systems Private Limited (JBS) has also launched an application in Pakistan named Siren App with the partnership of Commissioner Karachi’s Rescue 1299 project. The application is meant to provide an instant response in the case of emergency by integrating with Rescue 1299. It would also be connected with Karachi’s other emergency services.
