Gmail users can now receive files of up to 50MB

Gmail is finally increasing the size limit of receiving an attachment to 50MB.

Google has a restricted size limit of 25MB for sending and receiving the attachments through emails. Starting from today, users will be able to receive emails of up to 50MB. The blog reads,

“Sending and receiving attachments is an important part of email exchanges. While Google Drive offers a convenient way to share files of any size, sometimes you need to receive large files as direct email attachments. So starting today, you will be able to receive emails of up to 50MB directly.”

One thing should be kept in mind that this extension in size limit is applicable for “receiving” emails only. The sending size limits will remain the same at 25MB. This means if the sender is using any other email service, the Gmail user will be able to receive the files of up to 50MB in size, while the sending limit from a Gmail account will remain the same.

You can use Google Drive to send larger files. Google Drive provides you 15GB of free space to store and share your files.

This feature will be available to everyone within 1 to 3 days.
