Global Shapers Islamabad Hub collaborated with the Ministry of Planning, Development and Reforms, to organize a dialogue at the Auditorium of Planning Commission. The session comprised of Pakistani thinkers and doers who have taken initiatives to constructively shape communities. Led by Javeria Masood, Curator Global Shapers Islamabad, the session facilitated a productive discussion among stakeholders of the city, aiming at comprehending and envisioning a strategic design for the future of the city.
The event had a diverse representation including an array of policy makers, political and business leaders, planners, designers, NGOs, journalists, architects, designers and tech enthusiasts. The program was broken down into two sessions with an agenda to identify influencing community behaviors in the process of coping with infrastructural demands elevated by population growth. The first was a break out session where the diverse groups of community participating in an exercise to envision a smarter city.
This session was followed by another exercise where all the groups came together and shared their strategies, proposition and insights in a setting of a round table conference to discuss how citizens can be engaged to solve municipal problems and deploy technological smart systems. The two sessions were convened by Javeria Masood, Malik Ahmed Khan – Member, Infrastructure and Regional Connectivity and Chowdhry Anwar – Chief, Physical Planning and Housing.
Global Shapers Islamabad Hub has been qualified with four other cities participating for the Annual Meeting in Davos under the theme of ‘Re-imagining the Cities of Future’. The organization will join the segment named Shaping Davos and will present the debrief of the event through a virtual session where it will be providing an insight to the dynamics of Islamabad for the global audience.
Global Shapers Community is an initiative taken by the World Economic Forum to create a network of Hubs developed and led by emerging leaders,with a drive to make a contribution to their communities. These Hubs aim to help young people self-organize for impact and to ensure that they have a seat at the table where global agendas are being shaped.
