Founded on September 4th, Is its birthday today —Weird Google?

Google, the tech giant, celebrated its birthday today with an exquisite doodle on its search engine to mark the date. It has been 18 years since the company kicked off but people have been really confused about its birthday nearly every year.

Google Inc., the multi-national technology company, was founded back in 1998, 18 years from now by Larry Page and Sergei Brin. It wasn’t founded on September 27, the day Google celebrated its birthday. Instead, Google was founded on September 4, 1998 and the domain google.com was registered on September 17, 1998.

While it could be right that, the September 27th might not actually be the day Google was founded it essentially is its birthday as it itself chose it as one and went on to celebrate its special day, today.

Google put a doodle on its website, like it has been doing for important occasions. The doodle comprises of the Google’s G filling up a gas balloon, a balloon which makes up the ‘oogle’ of Google, and flies away the ‘G’ itself. The doodle was designed by Doodler Gerben Steenks on the occasion of Google’s 18th birthday.

Google has been pretty weird when it comes to its birthday celebration. For the past 11-years, It has been celebrating its birthday on the September 27th except for its 12th birthday when it didn’t celebrate one. Before 2005, the celebrations came on different days.
