Porsche recently announced that the company has considered appointing Sajjad Khan as its board member for Car IT, this will make Khan the 8th member of Porsche’s Executive board. Experienced in the automotive industry, Khan has previously worked with competitor Mercedes as their ‘Tech Chief’.
No joining date has been decided yet, however, according to Porsche’s Supervisory Board he can join as a board member as soon as he is available to do so. Chairman of the Porsche AG supervisory board, ‘Dr. Wolfgang Porsche’ said that “We strongly believe that the intended expansion of our Executive Board will further promote the successful development of our company”.
The Chairman of the Executive Board also gave a statement about the appointment and said that “We look forward to being able to welcome Sajjad Khan, a proven digital expert, to the Board and thereby strengthen our IT team in a critical position. Our industry is experiencing the greatest transformation in its history. We laid the strategic groundwork very early on. Our focus now is on implementation, which we want to continue to drive forward together with Sajjad Khan”.
Khan is known internationally for his genius in the automotive industry, the talented 48-year-old served Mercedes for more than six-year until 2021. In his last years of service for Mercedes, Khan served as a Chief Technology Office for the Mercedes Benz car division, where he handled things such as Connectivity, Autonomous, Shared & Services and Electric. Before working with Mercedes, Khan worked with BMW as a vice president and led the company’s worldwide connected drive efforts from 2011 to 2015.
Born and raised in Pakistan, Khan has German citizenship and has spent most of his professional life in Germany.
Having someone as experienced as Sajjad Khan surely is an intelligent decision by Porsche AG, being an expert Khan will surely prove to be resourceful for the company at a crucial time.
