foodpanda Introduces Online Payment Option

The online food ordering industry in Pakistan has just received a shake up call. foodpanda, a global chain of food delivery service which began its operations back in 2012 in Pakistan, has just gone a step ahead of other players in the market by activating an online payment option for its restaurant partners. This feature activation makes it the first digital food ordering platform in Pakistan to use the facility of online payment.

Pakistan, having a rich foodie culture, is now moving on to different ways of exciting their taste buds. Online food ordering industry in Pakistan has now grown on to be more than Rs. 15 billion. Food is a very important part of Pakistanis recreation, as now we can see, almost in every nook and corner of every city in the country, a food outlet selling something mouth watering and hard to resist. With a diverse variety of food available in Pakistan, and technology been allowed to flourish, the industry is now growing faster than ever, and foodpanda’s introduction of the online mode of payment is going to shake things up a bit for the rest of the food ordering services in Pakistan.

Speaking at the occasion, Ahsan Mateen, foodpanda Pakistan co-MD, said:

“We have just made a big step in the convenience of food ordering. foodpanda.pk now offers the most seamless way to get your favorite meals, further eliminating the stress of having the correct change ready for the delivery boy. Times when one runs out of cash or wishes to send treats to distant loved ones this online payment option will always be a tap away.”

This particular addition to their portfolio has all the potentials to help them lead the e-commerce market of food ordering services. It would not only help foodpanda, but will also let the customers have their delivered to them on their doorsteps without the hassle of cash on delivery. Payment can be made via a VISA compliant debit card, along with the usual credit card payments as well. Before proceeding, the customer is advised to go through the Terms and Conditions surrounding the transaction in order to avoid a breach of information security.

Its only been two years since foodpanda started operating in Pakistan, but it has expanded its operations to great depths. foodpanda not only caters the international chains like KFC, Cinnabon, Domino’s but also looks to have a deeper penetration in the local food industry of Pakistan by covering the local food chains as well. With the option of online payment under its belt, and a few other global players looking to tie up with foodpanda as well, it seems the food ordering service industry in Pakistan is about to get more competitive, something which is good for the business.

Note: The online option is still not available for all the restaurants as its a new roll out. Gradually, it will be available for all the restaurants in the portfolio.
