Foodpanda and L’Oréal Partners Up to Counter Street Harassment in Pakistan

L’Oréal Paris and Foodpanda just entered a partnership to counter street harassment in the country. To commence the partnership, a MoU signing event took place between Foodpanda and L’Oréal Paris officials. Many foodpanda riders and L’Oréal spokesperson ‘Iqra Aziz’ also attended the signing.

Being the largest food delivery focused startup in Pakistan, Foodpanda offers economic opportunities to thousands of delivery riders and even empower homemakers to become home chef and open their own delivery restaurant.

Having a workforce as large as 50,000, foodpanda surely is a great partner for the L’Oréal Paris ‘Stand Up’ initiative. Speaking at the event, Qawi Naseer, Country Managing Director of L’Oréal Pakistan said that “it is indeed a proud moment as we celebrate the collaboration between ‘Stand Up’ by L’Oréal Paris and foodpanda with its vast network of independent riders. We have set ourselves a big ambition of partnering with foodpanda as we work with the rider communities on this key initiative. It is our endeavor to continue the momentum and strengthen this partnership to unprecedented heights”.

“This partnership is a testament to our unified goal of serving the customer well and there is no better way to achieve this than to incorporate the use of technology in a rapidly evolving world. As we develop the market further, we are glad to have taken this step towards expanding our reach alongside L’Oreal Pakistan and wholeheartedly support its cause” said Foodpanda CEO Muntaqa Peracha who was also present at the event.

The L’Oréal Paris ‘Stand Up’ initiative was launched back in November 2021. Launched to protect people from sexual harassment, the program focuses on teaching both self-defense and mental techniques that people can use when they experience harassment or abuse.

Simple techniques such as the 5Ds (Direct, Distract, Delegate, Document, Delay) and complex combat skills are taught in the program. Up until now, L’Oréal has been able to teach these self-defense tactics to over 180,000 people, now partners with Foodpanda these numbers are only bound to increase.
