For the first time ever, Google collaborates with the leading e-commerce company of Pakistan, Daraz.pk, to host a mega online tech shopping festival, Tech Mela. The tech festival goes live from September 11th to September 20th at DarazPk. Tech Mela will bring 10 days of 6 exclusive product launches and online-only deals for tech enthusiasts with a 30% discount on smartphones, gadgets and data plans.
Tech Mela is aiming to bring together all leading smartphone brands and telecommunication companies to support the growing culture of online shopping in Pakistan. The mela is bringing a wide array of products from 11 top mobile brands that includes Samsung, Microsoft, Huawei, PTCL, Rivo, TPL Tracker, Innjoo, Infinix. The telecom companies that have signed up for the mela are Zong and Telenor.
Jonathan Doerr, Co-CEO of Daraz Asia believes that Tech Mela will be a gateway to the biggest online tech shopping festival in the country. According to him, the partnership of Daraaz with Google will contribute to the ecommerce industry with the launch of latest tech products and the best deals from the world’s major brands to their valued customers in Pakistan. Tania Aidrus, Country Manager South Asia Frontier at Google acknowledges that Pakistan’s mobile industry is constantly growing with more people going online through smartphhones as a primary internet device. According to Tania Aidrus there is no better time than the festivity period of Eid-ul-Adha to hold this virtual shopping festival where a wave of buyers will be congregating.
There have been a lot of cases in the recent past, where a couple of ecommerce websites couldn’t win the trust of buyers because of late delivery, delivery of defective items etc. This TechMela will be an excellent opportunity to win trust of such customers back.
Majority of Pakistani digital consumers jump into an online research before purchasing a device. They are inclined to find online resources more helpful and credible. Tech Mela is just an initiative to complete the research and purchase loop and to encourage consumers towards online shopping adoption.
