Karachi: A private school in Karachi has unveiled Pakistan’s first AI-powered teacher, a groundbreaking move in the nation’s educational landscape. The AI teacher, named Ainee, is deployed at a school in Gulshan-e-Iqbal and is designed to assist grade 5 students across various subjects, including mathematics, science, and languages.
An innovative AI system called Ainee can evaluate each student’s learning rate, answer their questions, and track their academic progress. This AI teacher is going to revolutionize the way we learn by providing individualized and adaptable lessons. It’s a huge step forward in combining technology with the old-fashioned way of teaching.
This innovative move is in line with Pakistan’s increasing focus on AI in several industries. Meanwhile, by early 2025, the United States government will have unveiled its first Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy.
The policy is expected to focus on strengthening cybersecurity, enabling real-time detection and response to cyber threats, and supporting the digital economy, with the broader goal of advancing Pakistan’s vision of becoming a “Digital Pakistan.”
The forthcoming AI policy aims to enhance Pakistan’s global standing in cybersecurity rankings. With AI-driven efforts at its core, Pakistan aspires to move up the ranks from its current place among the top 40 countries in the Global Cybersecurity Index 2024 to the top 10-15 in the next years.
Member of IT at the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom, Syed Junaid Imam, stressed the need for artificial intelligence (AI) in protecting cyberspace at the Cyber Threat Intelligence 2024 conference. “AI is crucial for ensuring a secure and resilient digital infrastructure,” Imam stated, emphasizing the government’s commitment to fostering digital transformation across the country.
Meanwhile, Ainee’s launch highlights Pakistan’s readiness to integrate AI into education. Another program that the Punjab government has started is a chatbot app that the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) developed to help people with their legal questions.
With a particular emphasis on women and their specific legal concerns, the app provides a convenient way for anybody to get one-click legal assistance without leaving the house. To make legal aid more widely available, the government has greenlit plans to broaden the application’s coverage in the future.
