Ladies and Gentleman, Startup Weekend Peshawar has culminated and we have our winners!
*Drumroll*
Startup Weekend Peshawar has to be one of the best technology events the city has seen in the past few months. The efforts of the organizing teams have paid off as they have managed to pull off an event that catered to the needs of young talent in the city, gave a big platform to emerging ideas and united the city in celebration of startups and technology. From the beginning to the end, Startup Weekend Peshawar was everything the organizers had promised it was: 54 intense hours of no talk and all action!
What started this Friday at Peshawar led to the participation of tens of people from all over Pakistan. Young and talented individuals and teams showed up to join the event that could change their lives. The air was filled with exuberance and enthusiasm. Teams met, people had various discussions and ideas emerged.
Out of the 120 ideas that were originally submitted for Startup Weekend Peshawar, almost 60 ideas were shortlisted and 35 went on for the initial pitch.
Yesterday the top 10 ideas were selected and today they competed against each other for the title winner. You can read about the ideas of top 10 teams from Startup Weekend Peshawar to find out more about the individual teams.
As the day started, each team worked with all their dedication to come up with amazing presentations which not only helped showcase their ideas to the full but also give an insight into their potential.
The judges and mentor, especially Zafar Khan and Jehan Ara made sure they coached the teams before the final presentations so that the doubts and problems of the teams could be dealt with.
When the final ceremony began, Twitter went alive with the #SWPeshawar hashtag as our diligent AppJuice correspondents Najam ul Assar and Khubaib Iftikhar tweeted live and timely updates from the event. Finally the time came to declare the winners. Apart from the winners mentioned above, there were other awards that were given out at the event.
Startup Weekend was a prime example of events that can bear fruit. These ideas will go on to become something big and contribute to the society we live in. The winners have the prizes to encourage them while those who didn’t win have passion as their backup. Teams learnt a lot from this event and that knowledge is going to come in handy sooner or later.
