Facebook Messenger has redesigned its camera with a lot of effects, filters, stickers, emoji, 3D and Prisma like art.
The standalone messaging application with billions of active users, is used for messaging, audio and video calling purposes. With the new feature, users will be able to doodle their photos and videos using their fingers or add different stickers and effects to stylize their pictures. Product Manager of Messenger, Andrew Song said,
“We’ve been thinking about how Messenger is more than just about text — how video calling, photo sharing became a more core part of the experience. What we really wanted to do on Messenger is help people be creative and help bring these photos alive and for them to be really fun.”
Facebook claims that billions of emoji, photos, stickers and videos are sent on Messenger every day. The world is becoming more visual and they want to make users’ experience more fun and engaging with higher quality and faster camera. A separate shutter button will be shown on the Home screen.
Facebook has been cloning many of the Snapchat’s features, like recently with ‘Collections’ and Instagram’s story. The Messenger camera will include masks from MSQRD, a Facebook-owned app, which is also very similar to Snapchat. The photos and videos will not disappear once they are sent like in Snapchat.
The feature will be rolled to all Android and iOS devices with an update soon.
