You will now be able to live stream your very own videos to your Facebook friends. The live streaming feature initially started off with a few well-known celebrities, which was then granted to all verified Facebook pages. Now it’s being rolled out to everyone. The feature has been accessible to the US audience as well.
Live video streaming only caught attention last year after the popularity of Meerkat and Periscope being used by journalists , reporters and celebrities for important events. After its announcement in August last year and exclusive availability to some celebrities, Live Video was allowed to a limited audience back in December. Soon it will appear as a menu option while posting a status.
Your live stream will be view-able within your newsfeed where you will get a count of the number of viewers. People can subscribe to your video if they like it. Facebook will then automatically save the video to your timeline so that people can even view it later.
The exact date hasn’t been revealed yet, but expect it to arrive very soon in all countries. For when the feature arrives, we predict a Snapchat apocolypse on Facebook.
