Mark Zuckerberg sees the future of the popular social media platform in private messaging.
The Founder/CEO of Facebook has hinted at the future of Facebook mentioning that it would be focused more on encrypted messaging. As the company navigates its way, it would start focusing more on private communications performed across Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram.
Mark Zuckerberg wrote a 3,000 words-plus blog-post today. In the blog titled, “A privacy-focused vision for social networking,” Mark talked about his vision about the future of Facebook. Diverting away from public broadcasting, Facebook would be focused more on private and encrypted conversations. It would also shift its focus from having permanent posts to hosting time-bound data that could be deleted after some time.
If made possible the social media would see a major shift in their operations model. Private messaging to a group of closed members isn’t currently the model on which Facebook is built.
“I believe the future of communication will increasingly shift to private, encrypted services where people can be confident what they say to each other stays secure and their messages and content won’t stick around forever. This is the future I hope we will help bring about,” Mark said. It isn’t clear as to when Facebook would be able to achieve this mission.
It would be worth mentioning here, that time and again, Facebook has come across data privacy issues.
