Facebook will make its platform hostile for terrorists, the company said in an official statement. Terrorism has been spreading the world over at a great pace and no country is unaffected by terrorism.
Both developed and under-developing countries are trying their level best to curb this problem but are facing many problems along the way as terrorists now are using new techniques such as using social media to carry out their heinous ambitions.
Social media giants such as Facebook and Twitter are facing huge criticism due to not taking concrete action against malicious posts, allegedly posted by terrorists or anonymous entities.
In a bid to curb terrorist activities on Facebook the company has decided to enhance its AI and to filter out malicious contents linked to terrorist organizations. The company also said that it has been taking action against fake accounts and the ones being used by banned outfits.
In a joint blog post, the social network’s global policy management director Monika Bickert and counter-terrorism policy manager Brian Fishman said Facebook was committed to tackling the issue with iron hands “In the wake of recent terror attacks, people have questioned the role of tech companies in fighting terrorism online,” Bickert and Fishman said in the post.
“We want Facebook to be a hostile place for terrorists,” they said, adding: “We believe technology, and Facebook, can be part of the solution.”
The company previously has also announced that it will be hiring 3,000 employees to filter out malicious content from its platform.
The CEO of the Facebook Mark Zuckerberg said that “If we are going to build a safe community, we need to respond quickly”.
