Facebook has launched its latest feature for Messenger that pulls Instagram contacts of users who opt to connect their accounts. The feature appears in Messenger’s People tab with the previously existing option to sync your phone’s contacts with Messenger. The option appears along the existing option to sync your phone’s contacts with Messenger.
When a user taps on Connect Instagram, Messenger will automatically add contacts from Instagram. Simultaneously, your Instagram handle and account will become visible to other users on Messenger. This will help users expand their social graph by combining friends and family from Facebook with their Instagram community.
Some users, however, are not pleased with this new feature. The new button on Messenger automatically syncs Instagram accounts, but users believe that an option should be given to make their decision.
Instagram’s own Direct Messaging service has emerged as a popular communication medium on its own. Therefore, the timing of this new feature is quite notable to capitalize the Instagram messaging activity and use it for driving the growth of Messenger app.
