Facebook Messenger Introduced For Web Browsers

Facebook announced a standalone Messenger for web browsers on Wednesday. The web version of the Messenger provides a way to chat from a browser tab on a desktop computer much like in a messenger app.

Facebook intends to provide its users with a distraction free chat interface and introduce additional features for the messenger. The mobile messenger added a peer to peer payment feature and a new developer feature to let developers build apps on top of the messenger.

We were already expecting such a news from Facebook especially after they detached messenger from the Facebook mobile application. It seems that the social network has officially entered to the standalone messaging app business. Facebook may even introduce Voice over IP service much like Viber and Whatsapp which might be surprising though since it acquired Whatsapp last year.

Messenger.com is accessible in Pakistan and other English speaking countries while Messenger in other languages will soon be rolling out.
