Unearthed data breaches and privacy-related concerns push Facebook to the top of the list of least trusted tech companies.
According to new research, Facebook has lost a lot of ground when it comes to keeping its users’ trust. The new study brought forward courtesy of PCMag unveils that Facebook has now become the least trusted tech company to exist in the world. The survey was being done by Toluna, a famous data-analytics/survey company, which interviewed more than a thousand individuals in the past month. The findings of the report showed that, of the total participants, as much as 40% of the users stated that they didn’t trust Facebook.
This percentage raked very high among the other companies. The second company to be included on the list was Twitter which shared its place with Amazon, with only 8% of users mentioning that they didn’t trust these tech companies.
Facebook has seen a lot of criticism in the past couple of years as more and more data breaches were brought to light. In a most recent such report, Facebook had allegedly ignored its privacy safeguards to give different companies special access to the user’s data. The New York Times mentioned that the privileges even included reading the user’s messages for some of the companies like Spotify and Netflix.
The series of data breaches started with Cambridge Analytica scandal, with which it was brought forward that Facebook had given access of about 80 million of its users to a third-party data analytics company.
