Facebook & Instagram are reportedly testing a ‘Do not disturb’ feature

Facebook and Instagram are testing a ‘Do Not Disturb’ features that allow users shut off notifications from the apps either for 30 minutes, one hour, one day or indefinitely until they turn it back on.

WhatsApp Beta and Matt Navarra spotted the ‘Do Not Disturb’ features on Facebook and Instagram. Facebook and Instagram both are thinking to allow users to turn off sound or vibration for its notifications. By today, both apps have these Do Not Disturb features embedded in their code and these might go into testing soon.

The features come just a month after Google and Apple announced their operating systems will soon give users Do Not Disturb options. In May, Instagram’s CEO Kevin Systrom wrote: “We’re building tools that will help the IG community know more about the time they spend on Instagram – any time should be positive and intentional.”

Moreover, Instagram also announced its “You’re All Caught Up” feature. Once you have scrolled through your feed and seen every post published over the last two days, you will receive a message saying that you have seen posts from last 2 days. You can then scroll past that message to see older posts and those you’ve already viewed. Instagram said today “We’ve heard that it can be difficult to keep track of your seen posts, with this message, you’ll have a better understanding of your feed and know you haven’t missed recent photos or videos.”
