Facebook almost killed its users today

Reports from around the globe started surfacing that Facebook had started declaring people dead on their social media profiles and pages, creating a confusion bubble among their followers.

The Facebook pages of influential people, in particular, were ‘memorialized’ declaring that the people were dead and people should ‘share to remember and celebrate his life’.

For example, the official Facebook page of Myke unfortunately read, “We hope people who love Myke will find comfort in the things others share to remember and celebrate his life,” Myke hadn’t died atleast not until he made the concerning tweet.

And of course even Zuckerberg wasn’t able to save himself from the imminent ‘death’.

However, the quite unfortunate blunder has now been fixed. Facebook told Business Insider,

“For a brief period today, a message meant for memorialized profiles was mistakenly posted to other accounts. This was a terrible error that we have now fixed. We are very sorry that this happened and we worked as quickly as possible to fix it.”
