Extension of Biometric Deadline for Old Vehicles Announced in Sindh

The Sindh government is set to implement a streamlined online system for license plate fee payments, extend the biometric deadline for old vehicles, and open new facilitation centers to ease vehicle registration and tax processes.

Sindh Excise Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla has assured the issuance of a two-month extension in the last deadline for biometric verification of owners of old cars and the early deployment of an online system for submission of taxes.

Saleem Gaudil and other members of the Car Dealers Association met with Mukesh Kumar Chawla, Sindh’s Provincial Minister for Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control, who was accompanied by Chairman Muhammad Kamran Khan.

Minister Chawla announced an extension of the biometric deadline for older vehicles in response to the delegation’s request. Additionally, he disclosed plans to introduce an online system for paying fees for number plate changes, after which the owners would receive their vehicles’ new license plates.

For the convenience of the people, the procedures for vehicle taxes, registration, and bio-metrics are being further “simplified” and more facilitation centers would be established across the province, he said and added: “We are trying to ensure that the steps taken by the Sindh Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department are people-friendly.”

He ensured that automobiles will obtain plates shortly after applying. For the convenience of the general population, efforts are also being made to streamline registration, taxation, and biometric processes.

Furthermore, new facilitation centers will be established throughout the province to help with vehicle taxes, registration, and biometrics. Chawla emphasized that the Sindh Excise Department intends to implement citizen-friendly policies.
