Epic responses to blackout in Pakistan on Social Media

Congratulations! Pakistan has procured the honor of becoming the first country to devoid its people the basic necessities of life and that too, all at the same time. On last Saturday, around mid-night, the country suffered from major power breakdown plunging main cities including Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad and Quetta into total darkness.

According to the sources, the power break down was caused due to a terrorist attack at a main transmission line in Nasir Abad area of Baluchistan. It was told earlier that the transmission lines at Guddu power plant were tripped which affected 500KW power line from the national grid, forcing Jamshoro and Bin Qasim power stations to shut down.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif instantly ordered authorities to take immediate action and restore the electricity. It has been ensured that the fault will be rectified soon and the concerned people are working hard to turn back on the grid stations. According to another report, electricity has been restored in certain areas of Rawalpindi, Karachi, Lahore and expectations are that the power will be back on in other parts of the country soon too.

The incident was not taken well by citizens who turned to social media to express their anger and opinions about the prevalent situation in Pakistan. On the other hand, the political parties took advantage of the situation to lash out on the government. Many entertainment pages posted relevant memes taunting the situation while #blackout and #wapda started trending on Twitter.
