LAHORE: Users on Saturday reported issues with the ePay Punjab mobile app, saying an apparent technical glitch rendered them unable to locate their payment codes.
According to details, a supposed malfunction in the application has disrupted payments for stamp duty, token tax, traffic fines, and vehicle registration. The issue was first reported earlier in the day when users found it unable to get their payment codes. The Punjab Information Technology Board, which is the executing authority for the ePay Punjab App, confirmed the app’s malfunction was tied to PITB’s own technical glitch. It is worth noting that the ePay app is linked to the driving license system, and the technical glitch has prompted traffic police to suspend their driving license services till further notice.
It remains to be seen if the issue will be fixed on a timely basis to allow users to continue with their online payments and other services. The issue comes week after a massive glitch in Microsoft cloud computing services brought a forced halt to operations of various companies worldwide. The crash disrupted banking and communications services around the globe, including India, the US and the UK, where financial institutions, airports, and media houses were unable to carry out their operations.
