Elon Musk’s xAI Trials Independent Grok AI Application on iOS

Elon Musk-owned artificial intelligence (AI) firm xAI, is currently in the process of testing a standalone application for its in-house chatbot, Grok. Currently, the Grok chatbot program is exclusively available in beta on iOS. It was initially launched on Sunday and is presently accessible exclusively in specific regions.

The iOS application will also capitalize on the recently released AI-powered image generator Aurora, supplying images as output. Earlier this month, the chatbot was made available for free to all X users. It also provides generative AI features, like the ability to rewrite text, summarize lengthy paragraphs, and generate images from text prompts.

“Grok is an AI-powered assistant designed to be maximally truthful, useful, and curious. Get answers to any question, generate striking images, and upload pictures to gain a deeper understanding of your world,” the listing reads.

xAI is also preparing a dedicated site, Grok.com, to make the chatbot accessible on the web. Currently, the site says “coming soon” when you log in with an xAI account.

Grok was previously accessible exclusively to X’s paying subscribers. In November, the company initiated testing of a complimentary version of the chatbot, which was made available to all users earlier this month.

The company claims that its chatbot’s image generator model is highly proficient in “photorealistic rendering” and imposes minimal restrictions on its image-generation abilities, enabling users to produce images featuring public figures and copyrighted content.

Furthermore, the Grok Beta iOS application can address inquiries that necessitate up-to-the-minute information. The chatbot gathers information for such queries by utilizing data from the X platform alongside web data. Users will have the opportunity to adjust the conversational style of Grok, including a ‘Fun Mode’ that produces amusing and satirical replies to inquiries.
