Electric Buses Arrive in Islamabad with New Routes and Fleet Expansion

ISLAMABAD: Public transport in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, has reportedly made a significant advancement with the arrival of 146 electric buses.

Residents of the twin cities may look forward to a more pleasant and environmentally friendly commuting option with the arrival of electric buses.

At a conference held at CDA headquarters, Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa stressed the importance of reducing dependency on subsidies while preserving service quality. Along with the commencement of operations for all thirteen routes comprising 160 electric buses. He also announced plans for a groundbreaking ceremony for the Zero Point charging station. In an effort to increase sustainability, the CDA chairman took a step further and ordered that all CDA and commercial vehicles be converted to electric buses.

According to a CDA spokesman, the four new routes would have bus intervals of 20 to 30 minutes at first. Every 5 to 10 minutes, the frequency will be raised to accommodate commuters and make the service more convenient for passengers. This big step towards better public transport in Islamabad is the growth of the electric bus network.

A new tender has been released with more affordable pricing; the primary objective is to establish bus charging stations and parking areas. Containers will serve as temporary offices throughout the initial phases of the project.

New bus route driver training is anticipated to take around one month. Buses will initially run along routes that have already been approved: Park Road, B-7, PWD, I-8, and I-9.

The Islamabad E-bus project is the latest major effort in Punjab; previously, the government had planned to introduce electric buses to Rawalpindi.
