KARACHI: Dr. Zakir Naik, an Islamic scholar, has warned YouTube content creators about the platform’s monetization program, labeling it “forbidden” according to Islamic principles.
In his most recent public appearance in Port City, the founder of Peace TV talked about whether or not he thought YouTube earnings were “haram” and argued about the material shown in ads. According to the respected scholar, “Even if you block alcohol ads, you can’t stop ads featuring women in revealing clothing.” This statement highlights the ethical issues related to ad revenue from content that features women and music.

Naik mentioned that he has millions of followers, and although he has the potential to earn substantial income, many channels that repost his videos frequently use images of women in their thumbnails. This practice often results in much higher view counts compared to his original content.
He also said that his videos have been shadow-banned, which has caused a drop in views. However, since he moved to an Asian country, his audience interaction has gone up.
Additionally, he emphasized the importance of earning money ethically and urged the questioner to refrain from using YouTube to influence others. Instead, he encouraged them to focus on their faith, assuring them that giving up ad revenue would not negatively impact their lives but would bring greater blessings.
Dr. Naik arrived in Pakistan to deliver lectures in major cities, marking his first visit in thirty years. He initially visited the country in the early 1990s. As a result of the controversies and legal issues caused by the Modi regime in India, he is currently living in Malaysia.
