Do not search “Thanos” on Google, the snap will vanish half of the search results

The population of the internet is increasing and Google is the only one with the will to do something about it.

Do not click on the infinity-stone studded gauntlet in Google search results for “Thanos”, you will end up wiping out half of the search results.

Google seems quite interested in adding Easter Eggs into its products. Google Search has previously presented various fun elements in the search results including the likes of “do a barrel roll” and “the answer to life the universe and everything.” But the recent Thanos-Gauntlet stunt is amazing of them all, probably due to the large fan following of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

At the recent release of MCU’s new movie, Avengers: Endgame, entering “Thanos” in Google Search will let you feel the “Snap” from the end of Infinity War. You will see the Thanos’ Infinity-stone studded gauntlet in the upper right corner of Google’s search results. Clicking/tapping on the “gauntlet icon” will animate the five Infinity Stones into action. Half of your search results will be gone in microseconds.
Google started rolling out this (“The Decimation” as officially recalled in MCU) Easter Egg from Wednesday evening. The Decimation sees Google search results you scroll to disappear in a slow, dust-like fashion similar to what we saw at the ending of Infinity War movie. This includes the 10 blue links and any article carousels.

Worry not, the death of search results “is not real”. To get the full Search results page again, users just need to click the Gauntlet again. The fist will be closed and all search results will be back in full.

This is a very fun and in-depth Easter Egg, though some users say it’s not working for them. However, several other reports of users confirm that they are encountering the Thanos Google Easter Egg and it’s working for both mobile and desktop users.
